Brain-Fit Is A Recent Phenomenon.

American humorist, satirist, social critic, lecturer and novelist, Mark Twain, was a pioneer in brain-fit exercises.  Twain was aware of memory loss associated with old age and "kept up his powers of recollection against the dimming effects of time." Twain was so determined to keep his brain fit that in 1885, he designed a board game called "Memory Builder."
